May of last year, it seems, was the latest post on this blog. Maybe I should update this more often.

Well, let’s start from there, shall we? At that time, I was finishing up my Spring 2023 semester at Villanova School of Business. I had been working feverishly on a major project at my workplace. Everything was going okay until…

I got hit with a layoff. I hold no grudge against my previous workplace. They did what they had to do, but it made my life a bit chaotic. I lost my job, which I had made a great big piece of my identity. But I also had a golden opportunity to redefine who I was as a person now and to determine the type of person I want to be.

I ended up finding work with an online seller of sheet music. You can find out more about it on my Resume Page. I am a manager now, leading the development, delivery, and maintenance of complex software.

But I also want to broaden the scope of skills that I’m learning and using in my everyday life. I want to be a better technical expert, broadening my repertoire of languages and technologies, and dip my toes into other technical skills, such as cyber and information security, networking, and DevOps. But I want to expand beyond that, too. I’m looking at things that are tech-adjacent. I’m interested in marketing, branding, advertising, graphic design, and the creative space. I want to learn product development, ownership, and management. I’m interested in being a better leader, mentor, and communicator.

We have only so many decades on this chaotic rock whirling about space at millions of miles an hour. I’d like to make my mark. In the coming blog posts, I will be discussing things as I learn them and apply them.
